May 28 Update

Couple items–

-Race start time is 8:00 a.m.  I’m figuring 4 waves maximum.

-Thanks to new sponsors Agility Physical Therapy and Sports Performance, Griffin Pest Control, Southern Michigan Bank & Trust,  and Arrowhead Cove.

-There will be an informal course preview tomorrow morning (Saturday 5/29) starting at 10 a.m.  Meet by the clubhouse near the end of the resort drive and off to the right.  This is a self supported event.  I may or may not be there.

-Water temps are hovering around 70 already.

-The run course has been posted for a while now.  You will start with a just under

2 mile out and back on pavement and hard pack gravel. You will then return to the waterfront area and proceed along close by the transition area and out into the south side of the resort with a short trail section, alongside a farm field and then back through another short trail section.  This second loop is nearly all hard pack dirt two trail or gravel road. You come back next to transition for the finish line. Coming back along the transition area provides for extra visibility and photo opportunities for spectators who may be joining you.

-If you do not have a race number belt, I suggest getting one.  Here is a link to an inexpensive offering on Amazon.  Breakaway Bicycles and Fitness also has some in stock at all three locations.  This number only needs to be with you on the run course.  You will have a small number that will go on your bike frame.  So when you come back in for the bike to run transition, you grab the belt with your number attached using the built in clips, and secure it and you are off.  No need to mess around with a number pinned to you somewhere which causes all kinds of issues. These belts also work great for doing road races so you don’t need to use safety pins to pull holes in your expensive apparel.  Don’t want to get one?  You can make one out of a thin elastic strap and attach safety pins to that to secure the number.

-Construction on 24th street north of the resort and north of the course prevents you from taking 24th directly south from Vicksburg.  Here is a map which shows some options to drive to and from the site.

-Registration is still open. I’m ordering the tech shirts for everyone registered by mid day on June 1st.  I’ll be ordering some extra lightweight cotton shirts to attempt to accommodate late registrants.

-We are getting close.  Any questions, please don’t hesitate to let me know.

-After the race, consider spending some time in the Village of Vicksburg and take in the sights and sounds of the Vicksburg Old Car Festival.
