-Race start time is 8:00 a.m.

-Race day registration closes at 7:15

-Packet pickup will be Saturday morning starting between 6:15 and 6:30.

-Water temps are holding in the 70 - 73 range.

-Here is a view of the resort clubhouse and the tent which will be used for packet pickup and post race.  The transition area will be set up fairly close and to the right of the tent in the grass.

-Construction on 24th street north of the resort (and north of the bike course) prevents you from taking 24th directly south from Vicksburg.  Here is a map which shows some options to drive to and from the site.

-If you are feeling hesitant about an open water swim, get out and swim. Now. The support boats are there for emergencies, not for resting platforms. You should be prepared to go the distance.

-The bike course is marked at all intersections with orange arrows. Here is the view heading south on 27th approaching “YZ” Ave. This is a left turn at a T intersection. Minimal traffic here and it will be manned by law enforcement and volunteers.  All major intersections will be manned with law enforcement units, volunteers, or both.

-Make a check list of the gear you plan to use.  Then use the list to make sure you are all set before departing for the race.

-Get a race bib number belt if you don't have one.  You will use it countless times down the road for both multisport and running events. We will have some safety pins if you need to attach the number to your jersey.

-If you are not equipped with a minimal bike tool kit. Get one put together and know how to use it. It should be with you always while on the bike in any setting.

-There are no aid stations on the bike course. There are two on the run at approximate mile marks one and two. The run course stations will have water.  There will be lemon-lime Gatorade and water, along with fruit and cookies at the finish line/post race.

-The resort has been doing some construction near where the transition area will be set up.  So I am making a slight change in the run course. Nothing major other than actually making it a bit easier to set up and no slight grade for you to tackle immediately coming out of transition at the start. The distance remains 3.1 miles.

-You have an approximate 3/8ths of a mile walk with your gear from parking to the registration and transition area.  Make sure the gear you plan to bring fits into your carry bag. If you plan to ride your bike down from the parking area, your helmet must be on and secured before you mount your bike.  That goes for any time you are mounted on your bike around the venue race morning. Same goes when making your swim to bike transition. Helmet goes on and is secured before taking your bike off the rack, then head to the mounting spot, mount and go. When returning after completing the bike course, dismount where noted, make your way to your rack spot in transition, rack your bike, then the helmet is unclipped and comes off.  Violations of this most basic of safety precautions could result in your disqualification.

-I neglected earlier to post the listings for race awards.  Please check the site Results page for details.

-The Village of Vicksburg is gain hosting the Vicksburg Old Car Festival on race weekend. If you are into muscle cars and stuff like that, it is the place to be.

-We are one week out now.  Any questions, please don’t hesitate to let me know.
